
Farmácia Portas da Maia: a practical and functional design
A pragmatic approach, based on functional design, was at the heart of the Farmácia Portas da Maia remodeling project. Here, the objective was to optimize the point of sale and increase the display area. To do this, it was necessary to redesign theback officeand develop a newlayoutto the point of sale. Combination of contrasting shapes and textures
In the remodeling project at Farmácia Portas da Maia, thelayoutwas simplified, consisting of only four main zones: exhibition area, service area, confidentiality room and warehouse.
Upon entering, the ceramic floor, with a slightly brutalist appearance, helps to lengthen the space, giving it an industrial character. An aspect that contrasts with the simplicity of the shapes and the roughness of the textures, in order to enhance the beauty of the materials and the quality of the finishes.
Likewise, to preserve the atmosphere of Farmácia Portas da Maia, Medd's architects opted for neutral colors, with the intention of conveying a feeling of tranquility and comfort that opposes the hustle and bustle of the city.


The demarcation of different areas of consumption
The demarcation of different consumption areas allows the user to quickly read the space, immediately identifying the product they are looking for. A design strategy that contributes, to a large extent, to improving yourshopping experience.
Innatural zoneand Bio, for example, original dividers were fixed in order to limit and highlight the exhibition, without breaking the pharmacist's field of vision or the fluidity of the layout.
On the other hand, wallpaper and graphic details were strategically included in the decoration to break the monotony and attract the attention of users.


A reflection of the brand’s principles
Fixed to the side walls of the pharmacy, the linear ones benefit from natural light and help to delimit the display area.
Basically, theservice countersThey boast simple geometric shapes, using the combination of different materials to generate visual interest. This detail contributes to the conception of a coherent design that reflects the brand's principles: versatility and trust.
The facade was designed to fit in harmoniously with the surroundings, highlighting the range of services and products provided by Farmácia Portas da Maia.
In this way, the space uses the graphics present on the windows to communicate with the outside, while benefiting from the entry of diffused light.
