National Pharmacist Day
Happy National Pharmacist Day
Pharmaceutical historiography dates back to the first third of the 19th century, a period that marks the starting point of pharmacy as an independent science. National Pharmacists' Day is celebrated annually to reinforce the importance of these professionals and highlight the positive impact of their work on the population's health care. As vital members of society, pharmacists make a difference in the lives of their patients. The first recorded pharmacists in history date back to 2100 BC. Today, they are among the most trusted and accessible healthcare professionals, carrying out patient care activities including counseling, managing medications or administering preventive care to patients. Thanks to their accessibility and regular interaction with the population, pharmacists also identify potential drug interactions and educate users on the appropriate use of medication. All of this makes National Pharmacists' Day a particularly relevant day, drawing the population's attention to the high levels of user satisfaction and the quality of pharmaceutical service.
September 26th – National Pharmacist Day
In Portugal, National Pharmacist's Day is celebrated on September 26th, being promoted and celebrated by the Order of Pharmacists, remembering the patron saints of the profession Saint Cosmas and Saint Damian. Every year, Medd celebrates this date in different ways, but this year is special. In a period as difficult as the current one, we highlight the support of these professionals to the community, with a video paying tribute to the immense challenge undertaken by pharmacists.
To everyone: Thank you very much!
